Front sight adjustment calculation Vetterli M1881 Stutzer
There is a complex formula to calculate (thanks Parashooter). The
calculation works like this: Divide the amount of group movement
desired by the target distance times the sight
radius to get the amount of front (or rear) sight change needed.
The sight radius is about 0.8m, so if you want to move your 100m group
0.50m - divide 0.50 by 100 x 0.8 to give 0.004m. Therefore
a 4mm sight change would be needed. But if you instead add 5, 6 or 7mm to
the height of the front sight you gain the option of adjusting the rear
sight down if needed - without having to start over again with a taller
front sight.
