Loads for the Vetterli cartridge 10.4x42R
I started using the RCBS dies for the 10.4x42R so I directly could reload some of these rounds. After checking the case dimensions of the 10.3x60R cartridge against the case dimension of the 10.4x38R I shortened this cases down to 1.653 inches (42mm). After pushing the cases thru the RCBS dies the cases were ready for reloading. Now a load calculated with Quick-Load. The Semi-Wadcutter-Bullet from Haendler and Naterman lubricated and sized to .427 has a weight of 240 Grains. The primer is from RWS R5341 and the powder I have used ist from Rottweil R910. The load is 23.0 Grains
The accuracy of this load 5 shots at
100 meters. (109 yards) is approx. 5cm (2 Inches). The
3 best shots are approx. 15mm togehther (approx 0.381 Inches). That is fantastic,
especially when shot with open sights at 100m (109
yards)!. The following picture below shows the
original cartridges: The left cartridge: Original cartridge
