Traveling to Africa

Our flight went from Zurich to Amsterdam. After a short break of two hours we flew 10 hours to Johannesburg. The night flight with KLM was very nice and without any troubles. We arrived in Johannesburg in the morning. After a long enjoyable breakfast at the airport we flew with Air Namibia, operated by British Airways, to Windhoek, Namibia. Somebody told me “If you travel to Africa, please take a lot of time…” OK at least at the Windhoek Airport I understood his meaning! But the rifle import procedure went very fast and without any problems.

We were waited from our driver. After a 30 minutes drive by car to Windhoek city it was a good moment to get used keeping to the left… The Tamboti Guesthouse is an enjoyable place to stay. After check-in we walked to Downtown Windhoek and it was a good idea after the long flight.

Dinner at Joe’s Beerhouse – a wonderful place to eat. There are a lot of exhibits like some trophies from Kudu’s and Oryx and some funny thinks used in the colonial days. Don’t miss the typical German “Glühwein” (mulled wine)!
