Hunting in Africa
The Hunting Farm OtjiwaGudrun took us with the Van to Okahandja. For my wife it was hard saying good-bye because she became very attached to Gudrun. In Okahandja we were expected by Jürgen. He drove us carefully to Otjiwarongo; a town situated 75 km northern of Okahandja. We arrived at the Guest- and Hunting Farm Otjiwa. And here we stayed for another five days for hunting Impala and maybe Warthog. Jürgen presented Peter Reinhardt as our new professional Hunter. A tall man with blond hair, a blond beard like the K & K monarchy. He wore a typical pear of German leather trousers. Peter offered us a cup of tea and presented a photo album of the last four years hunting stories in Otjiwa.
Guest- and Hunting Farm Otjiwa At the afternoon we went out in the bush. But previously we had to do our shots at the range. It could be that the rifle could be damaged during the transport. Collani at the
shooting range... During the drive to the range Peter already made a comment about my rifle Blaser R93. “Hmm – Blaser R93…”. I know that my rifle is extremely accurate. Maybe the rifle isn’t that much robust like an old Mauser. But I was sure with a little bit of gun care the rifle already will survive the rough African bush. So I took place at the bench rest and prepared two cartridges. Peter got one and exanimate it well. Meanwhile I fired the first shot at the target at 100 meters. “The rifle's black point is at 150 meters” I told him. Williams our tracker came back with the target. He was impressed… After stowing the stuff into the Land Rover Williams drove us around the bush. This farm has a variety of waterholes, some water dams and mud holes. The best conditions for Warthog. The Guest- and Hunting Farm Otjiwa is well known in the World because of the greatest Rhinos population in Namibia. We were very lucky to see one of the bulls. Williams stopped the car and took my wife into the bush. She got the camera with here and followed the tracker. After ten minutes both the tracker and my wife came back without having seen the Rhinos bull. Suddenly the bull appeared 70 yards in front of us. I got the camera and shot some pictures from this beautiful animal.
A very big Rhinos bull... We didn’t saw a lot of animals but Giraffes crossed our way back home. When the sun goes down at five o’clock the temperature changes from nicely warm to freezing cold. My wife had some troubles with Peter’s attitude to the hunting rules. He mentioned some sentence like “dammed animals… etc.” because he accused the Leopards and Cheetahs as pest. For that reason we took the next day off. Both my wife and me we flew into a tantrum and we went to Otjiwarongo to get rid of it. We were more than 14 days for hunting without one day off.
